“There for every moment, in and out of the ring”
Hi! I’m Katie!
I first found my love of horses when I was seven years old at camp. My mom decided that my friend, Amelia and I should try riding together while we were there for the week and as soon as we got home that was all we could talk about. I soon took my first real lesson in July of 2009. From there, riding turned from a couple lessons a month, to a few shows a year, showing my dream horse in the equitation at the best venues in the country, and now riding in college at the University of Kentucky all thanks to my incredibly supportive parents, friends and trainers. Along my riding journey I have met my best friends, accomplished many goals, and ended up with the most supportive barn family at Three Ships LLC.

Around the same time I fell in love with horses and began riding, I became interested in photography while watching my dad take photos of my brother and me at our various sporting events. I wanted to learn more and he was happy to teach me. I started out just by using his camera before he ended up gifting me that one when he upgraded his own gear. I was thrilled to have my own camera and would photograph anything I could; nature, cities, my brother's sports games, and do “photoshoots” with my friends. Once I started showing more, I found my passion for equine photography. I started an instagram account called “snap shot photography” and would post photos from shows simply because I loved doing it. However, life got busy, high school started, and I got more serious about riding and for some reason didn’t pick up a camera that often for a little over a year. Once I aged out though, I found my love for the art once again and it came back stronger. I again started taking photos at shows of my friends and decided to wipe the slate clean and start again as “Kaitlyn Miller Photography”. After that, with a lot of convincing and support from my barn, friends, and family, I pursued photography professionally which was the best decision I could have made for myself. I found a purpose in photography, gone farther than I thought I could, and still get to live my life surrounded by horses.
